Is it Time for A New Roof? Let us Help!
August 12, 2020Storms are bad at any time of the year, but summer storms seem to bring more severe weather. Severe weather can lead to severe damages to your roof and its structure. From leaks to severe structural damages, storms can cause extensive damages to your home. Below, Park City Roofing will explain some of the more common storm-related damages we see.
Broken or Loose Shingles
This is the most common type of roof damage we see after a severe storm has occurred. Shingles become broken or fall off because of high winds or hail. While you may not realize how essential shingle repairs are, it is vital. A missing or broken shingle can lead to leaks inside your home. Once a leak occurs, you will have water damages that could cause mold to grow. Always check your roof after a storm to ensure your shingles are in place!
Gutter Damages
Gutter damages happen over time. As the gutters become clogged or weak, they will break apart from heavy rains or hails. If your gutter becomes damaged, it can cause your roof to incur structural damages that will cause leaks. Your gutters must always be clean of debris and in good shape.
Structural Damages
Structural damages are the worst-case scenario for roof damages. If a storm knocks a limb or tree onto your property, your roof will receive the brunt of the force and damages. Once the integrity of your roof has been compromised, you will have leaking and water damages. If you have this type of damage, call a roofing company as soon as possible. Most companies have emergency lines for this reason. The roof area that is damaged will need to be secured with a tarp to ensure no more water enters your property. Once the storms have passed, the roofers can assess the damages and begin repairs.
